Planning the First Birthday!

It’s finally here! Time to plan the 1st birthday party. For the past 12+ year I’ve been an event planner. Planning various events of all different types and sizes: MLB Hall of Fame Inductions, Figure Skating Shows, Marketing Activations, 5000+ Beer Gardens next to a river, wedding showers, baby showers…just to name a few.

But finally, I get to plan my little one’s First Birthday! When we were expecting we did not find out the gender of the baby. We believe that finding out the gender of your baby when they are delivered is one of the few precious moments and surprises left to enjoy in life these days.

Since we didn’t know what we were having, we decided on a Peter Rabbit theme for the nursery. I absolutely LOVED her nursery. It featured soft greys, pale blue, and a pale tiffany like blue. When we moved, we reimagine the Peter Rabbit theme and painted her room pink and added a chandelier that was originally in the dining room.

When I was a little girl, my grandmother used to treat us to frosted animal crackers all the time. I loved having them and they¬†are one of the special things that sticks out when I think about childhood. I’m not one to choose a generic birthday kit, I want to put my creativity and love into it for her. So I started from scratch and planning a birthday based on frosted animal crackers! I’m using lots of pinks and purples and found some fun antiques and artsy items on Etsy (my secret love). I can’t wait to show pictures and details from the parties! We are celebrating with friends and some family on Sunday and then we will have a birthday lunch at the office with her office friends and “boyfriends” followed by a special dinner with family and her grandparents who are flying in from California for the special occasion.

Stay tuned for the big birthday week posts including my labor & delivery story (which I’ve been meaning to write down since that day), a video celebrating the first year, and a post on the birthday celebration!
