Year 1 is in the books. It’s hard to believe how much of my life has changed in the past year.
On February 2 – I became a Mom.
On May 27 – I became a homeowner, in a new state.
On June 27th – I started working for my family leaving my profession behind.
Throughout the past year, I’ve had some pretty significant changes to my life. During that time, I left behind the person that I was before all of these changes. Not to cause any confusion, becoming a Mom was the best thing to ever happen to me. It has always been a dream for my husband and me to own our home, especially one that we could put our own hard work into, but I lost track of my personal interests, my well-being, and time for myself.
With that being said, over the next year I am going to focus on:
- Work-out! Even if it means waking up at 5 AM…ugh. .I was a rower in college…I have seen 4 AM many times before. And I already wake up at 5:30 AM just to shower before the little one wakes up.
- Find a sitter. Make Date Nights a Priority! I haven’t found a sitter yet which means my husband and I have not had much US time in the past year. It has certainly gotten better now that our little one is in bed by 730 PM most nights. But he leaves at 5 AM for work in the mornings and will soon start studying for the CPA exam. So it will be even more important to have a sitter so we can schedule monthly date nights.
- Blog! I have fallen many blogs over the years. Not only have they given me the inspiration for various recipes, lifestyle products or home design, but I feel like they have just been resources for LIFE. I hope that by blogging I can give my creative outlet a channel to enjoy (because I feel like it’s buried inside and dying to get out). I hope I bring some humor and spark creativity in others by my ideas and thoughts. Or you just might think I’m crazy, which is okay too. But this girl needs to vent sometimes, and honestly, I’m over Facebook.
So stay tuned as I find my path with this bloggy blog (as I always say to my husband when reading my blogs). It may take me a while to figure out the direction and consistency but I welcome your feedback, thoughts, words of advice, and humor. It’s time to look beyond the first year!
